Rob Downey – Software Quality Assurance Manager
Rob Downey manages Delta's Product Development team in the software quality assurance group it is their job to ensure that the released product works as specified and meets the needs of our customers.
Rob didn’t take a direct path to software development, he has a varied past which even includes forest fire fighting but it was after being amazed at the automation in a warehouse he decided to study automation and robotic technology. Rob was placed in Delta Controls for a co-op term during his diploma and was given the task of verifying algorithms for a VAV controller.

Rob Loewen – Quality Analyst
Before starting at Delta, Rob Loewen worked for the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada as a technician in the sound and vibration lab. He joined Delta Controls in 1999 and is a Quality Analyst and part of the Corporate Quality Assurance team. The main focus of this team is to do Continual Improvement (CI) projects that improve the performance and quality of the company. His specific role is to do analysis of the various data we gather from audits, inspections and RMAs to determine the biggest areas for improvement. His routine includes maintaining the calibration of our test equipment, performing quality audits, and helping to investigate quality failures that might arise.
Delta encourages its employees to take professional development courses, Rob for example has taken several courses in statistics, reliability and quality assurance. Rob originally graduated from BCIT in Electronics and computer control, but these courses will mean he soon will also receive a BCIT certificate in Quality Management.
“This knowledge makes me realize innovative ways of doing things and improves the way I do my job. Every day there are opportunities to use my training. It is very empowering to learn new theories and practices, apply them in your work, and see the results.”

Jasdev Sran – Quality Assurance
Before immigrating to Canada, Jasdev worked as Service Engineer with a Electrical manufacturing company in India. He holds a
Diploma of Technology (Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and one from an India University. While at BCIT he was spending my long days around Delta products installed almost everywhere at the campus and was intrigued with the “gadgets”.
Jasdev is part of the Quality Assurance team, working closely with R&D, marketing and manufacturing departments and dealing with product certifications. His role includes getting products through UL, EMC investigations, ensuring all Delta product certifications are up to date and address the Global market demands and researching new certifications/standards, affecting us globally.

Jonathan Tsui – Senior Hardware Developer
Jonathan is a senior hardware developer for Delta Controls. Jonathan received in education in Hong Kong (Diploma-Higher Engineering), United Kingdom (Masters- Engineering Business Management) and is a graduate of BCIT (Electronics). Before joining Delta in 1999, he worked as an assistant engineer to a mechanical manager in different products, such as consumer products, toys and telecommunication equipment.
Jonathan develops new products for Delta Controls, both electronic and mechanical, and he brings them from the stage of conceptual design up to production. He especially enjoys the satisfaction of seeing his projects come to fruition after managing the whole development process. The 4 skills, he says, for a successful outcome of any project are high level computer knowledge in both mechanical and electronic, problem solving skills, strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Plus good time management and organization is needed to handle different projects indifferent stages at the same time.

Simon Fogliato – Software Developer
Nine years ago, Delta sponsored a career day at BCIT. Simon decided to attend because he wanted to gain experience in the interview process. Long story short, he ended up getting hired by Delta Controls. He is now a Software Developer for Delta’s BACnet server. Simon enjoys the stress free positive environment that is Delta.

Greg Jaman – Project Manager
Greg is one of Delta Controls newer recruits but is just as qualified being a professional engineer, and project manager, with Master of Science in computer engineering. Before joining Delta in June of 2012, Greg was a senior engineer focusing on developing hardware and software for wireless data acquisition systems.
He joined Delta Controls because of its reputation for being a leader in building controls and automation with a long history of success. He is a Hardware project manager with the responsibility to steer the development of hardware products from conception to release making sure that are on-time, on-budget, and on-scope.
“My position allows me to be involved with creating awesome products and work with extremely knowledgeable professionals.
I'm surrounded by great people that enjoy sharing knowledge. Because I work with all departments within Delta controls, I learn something new every day. I consider myself a lifelong learner and Delta Controls provides me new challenges to further my skills and knowledge.”

Chris Kwong – Director of Engineering
Chris spends his time juggling projects and priorities – the short term development projects with the long term innovation journey of Delta Controls, creating the future for the product architecture. He is responsible for the Hardware and Embedded Software Development teams as well as being part of the company’s management team keeping the company running smoothly.
“I contribute directly into the creation of the development teams and the actual design of the products as well as the architecture of the platforms that we use”.
As you would expect Chris is a Professional Engineer in Computer Engineering and holds a B.A.Sc in Electronic Engineering. But he recognizes how essential it is to stay current and regularly attending conferences, seminars and participating in industry committees as well as taking relevant courses.
Chris has risen from within Delta, having been with the company for 19 years, and like many of our team it is the culture that keeps him. “I like the people and the culture. The relationship that exists between the company and its partnership. It truly feels like a tight family.” More than that there is also a sense of calling: “I want to be able to make a difference to people’s environment for the better. To create solutions that make a difference in everyone’s life.”

April Pang – Senior Software Developer
April has progressed in Delta during her 15 years with us and now leads a team of software designers working on Delta’s next generation of products, especially focusing on wireless technologies as a member of the Zigbee Alliance. She joined Delta from a junior software analyst role with Motorola and was attracted by Delta's philosophy of focusing on building their expertise in BACnet and Building Automation technology.
“I enjoy being somewhere that does research, development and manufacturing all in-house, I get to be involved at every step of the way - not only the software teams, but also the hardware, QA and manufacturing teams and to oversee various phases of product development.”
April values that she is able to apply her education (a degree from UBC electrical engineering) and has developed the skills to work on multiple projects across departments and to site troubleshoot strategic partner installations. Plus she comments “I like the company culture, the people, and Delta's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles.”
