BEC Installs First Delta BACnet Touch Screen in UK
February 16, 2009
Building Environment Control (BEC) has announced that it has installed the first Delta BACnet touch screen at Crewe Hall in Cheshire.
Crewe Hall has recently undergone an £11 million enhancement programme, which includes additional accommodation, leisure and conference facilities at the Grade 1 listed 17th century hotel and conference centre.
BEC designed and installed a complete Building Management System (BMS) for the new facilities. This included the installation of a new 7-inch colour Delta touch screen - the DHMI. The touch screen technology enables hotel staff to monitor and manage the building controls of all four conference suites in the new Events Centre, which can accommodate up to 370 invitees.
The DMHI is wall mounted and has been customised to display 3D animated graphics showing the conference facilities’ HVAC system. Here, local users can view the current status of the rooms, change occupancy schedules and make adjustments to temperature setpoints.
“The DHMI is easy-to-use and has saved us a great deal of time,” says Steve Morrell, Maintenance Manager at Crewe Hall. “This is because staff no longer need to run around adjusting the equipment in each room, now it can all be done from one central location.
“BEC has worked closely with our staff to show us how to operate the touch screen and make the most of its capabilities. This has helped to generate energy and cost savings, which have been made possible by programming accurate timings into the system to ensure it’s more energy efficient and not running 24/7.”
BEC anticipates that the quick and easy-to-use touch screen could reduce the building’s running costs by up to 25 percent. Since the first touch screen installation at Crewe Hall, BEC have installed over 20 DHMI units on behalf of other clients so they too can benefit from its user-friendly features to achieve similar cost savings.
