Case Study: OSF Healthcare Systems

Peoria, Illinois, USA

OSF Healthcare Systems

Delta Partner: Entec Services, Inc.

Background: One of the unique strengths of OSF Healthcare System is its corporate engineering department and competent maintenance staff. Faced with the declining reliability and the high technician turnover rate of their sole source direct digital control supplier, they took a hard look at ENTEC Services and Delta Controls. After careful due diligence, OSF moved forward with ENTEC Services. The success of each project reinforced their decision to partner with ENTEC. ENTEC’s responsiveness, commitment to OSF and "Do It Right" philosophy of business helps OSF bring the total cost of building ownership under better control.

System solution: Retrofit of the control system serving the corporate headquarters building, housing not only administration, but corporate engineering along with the 11 other corporate office divisions was one of ENTEC’s first projects. By using a Delta Controls building automation system, the OSF staff can now modify control programs to fit their specific needs, something they were never able to do before.

Results: Says Michael Saunders, Chief Engineer, "What impressed me most was that the system was installed during normal working hours, with no down time. It was transparent to our staff." The cost of the new Delta Controls system was nearly half of what it would have cost to upgrade the existing system. Facilities Engineer Ed McKenzie adds, "The system is so stable and easy to use, and the installation was so smooth, that we are having ENTEC upgrade a number of our other facilities with Delta Controls."

Owned and operated by The Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, OSF Healthcare System consists of six acute care medical centers, one long-term care facility, a physician network and two colleges of nursing encompassing more than 148 buildings in two states. Headquartered in Peoria, Illinois OSF Healthcare System serves 1.5 million people in Illinois and Michigan.
