Case Study: Argenteuil Health Centre
Lachute, Quebec, Canada
Delta Partner: Regulvar
Unique prolems to solve: With five different additions in the last 40 years, the hospital was forced to utilize five disparate building control systems, as well as more than 35 mechanical systems. This proved both time consuming and inefficient with five different service contracts.
With the latest expansion, the hospital had five goals in mind: offer a secure and comfortable environment, integrate the disparate systems, combine HVAC, Lighting and Access control, help to further conserve energy, and meet set budgets.
System solution: A BACnet® solution using Delta Controls was created via an Ethernet backbone. The existing five different building control systems, along with the entire hospital’s HVAC, Lighting and Access controls were integrated into a single, self-contained system. Access controls incorporated control readers for the employees’ access to the hospital’s restricted parking lots, buildings, lockers, changing areas, pharmacy and other restricted areas. The Access system also controls the scheduled locking and monitoring of perimeter doors. The Ethernet backbone makes possible the transmission of digital video images and the integration of some of the security cameras to the Access control.
Results: Bruno Roy is responsible for Technical Services at the Lachute Hospital. He says Regulvar and Delta Controls were selected for their ability to submit a system that would meet their well-defined requirements and budgetary constraints. He especially likes the fact that he can communicate with the entire hospital through just one easy-to-use system instead of five separate ones. The fact that he also only needs one service contract is a well-appreciated bonus. Even after the substantial energy conservation efforts by the hospital, Bruno expects significant energy savings. In short, Bruno says, "It’s a welldone integration. I'd recommend a system of this kind to anyone who asks."
With its first building erected in 1960, Lachute Hospital has undergone a number of expansions. As a much larger facility, the hospital is able to comfortably serve the community of Lachute and neighboring areas north of Montreal.
