Facility / System Description:

“The New Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Bathurst was very well planned and executed by all involved. Using the principles of sustainable design, this site was constructed and operated to be environmentally responsible, profitable and a comfortable healthy place to work.

Innovative credit was awarded to this site as they dismantled the existing district office and diverted the building materials from landfill by selling them for reuse and also returning the existing parking lot to its natural landscape.

The site also achieved their silver rating by reducing site disturbance throughout construction, construction waste management, water efficiency, re-using 10 % of existing building material resources, using materials with at least 18% recycled content, 50% of new building materials were purchased using local/regional suppliers, using 6% rapidly renewable materials, the lighting system was specifically designed to reduce light pollution, indoor air quality was maintained by using low emitting materials, overhangs and building orientation were strategically placed to maximize borrowed lighting and thermal comfort and last, but not least, the implementation of our Delta Energy Management System to optimize energy efficiency and building performance.

Congratulations to the Province of New Brunswick in achieving their Silver rating.”
