Job Title: Product Manager - HVAC

Job Summary:

Our VP of Marketing is looking for an individual that is able to think outside the box, and solve problems, while understanding market environment and future trends (opportunities).

The person:

• needs to have significant practical experience in the Building Automation industry.
• need to be able to work within a defined vision, and produce a product that meets that goal, while value-adding the design process with a bent on the practical field issues.
• need to be able to see a product concept drawing, and visualize field implications mentally, solving problems before getting to prototype stage.
• needs to work well with the existing PM team.

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you will guide a team that is charged with a product line contribution as a business unit. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company. You will help build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with a development counterpart to define product release requirements. You will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

The individual needs to work well with the existing PM team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining an overall product plan for the assigned product platform. This requires a thorough understanding of Market needs and trends.
• Creating an initial business plan for each product or product line. This business plan would be further modified as required by the individual project manager. Any future modifications would have to be approved by the VP Marketing.
• Developing Product Vision & Requirements. This will require the product manager to interview user groups, develop use cases, etc.
• Overall responsibility for each of the products in your product platform, from conception to release. This also includes all aspects of functionality, quality, packaging, documentation etc.
• Lead the design of your products’ user interface. User Interface design will be reviewed by the project team, Customer Solutions and the VP Marketing for ease of use, and quality.
• Research new products and innovative technologies for use with the Delta product line.
• Ensuring that the technical content of your assigned product platform on Delta’s corporate web page is current and accurate.
• Work with the VP Marketing to create product numbers for all new products.
• Work with the VP Marketing to develop product pricing strategy for existing and new products.
• Provide guidance and direction to team members that may be assigned to your product platform. It is your responsibility to manage the team assigned to your project, and to give them ongoing performance feedback.
• Provide guidance and direction to the Technical Writers. Accountable for ensuring that the quality of the technical documents produced by the tech writers is of a professional level, and that content is suitable for the intended audience.
