Southland Industries is a well-known design build mechanical contractor in the Washington DC - Northern Virginia metro area that has a small but steadily growing controls department. The position is one that is expected to produce growth and additional responsibilities with continued experience. The compensation is extremely competitive and includes full benefits and eligibility for bonuses and incentive. Relocation reimbursement will be considered for the right candidate. Job Title: Applications Design Engineer
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Review plans, specifications and sales proposals for the assigned projects and prepare engineering plans, point lists and schedules.
- Selects products, controllers and end devices as needed to perform required control sequences and generates CAD control drawings and project submittal drawings as required for assigned projects.
- Creates custom control programming and databases as required on assigned projects.
- Design, develop and verify graphic files in accordance to the project requirements.
- Generated checkout and commissioning documentation.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Desired Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Four-year technical degree in mechanical or electrical engineering technologies.
- Three to five years DDC applications experience within the building controls industry.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD release 2005.
- Knowledge of commonly used networks and network topologies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including sequence of operations, technical product literature, programming manuals and specifications
- Strong knowledge of building mechanical systems, HVAC controls applications, hardware and software products. Delta experience a plus but not required.
- Must be a self starter who can work unsupervised to meet project schedules.
